Start free with Fliki →Fliki free: narration with a watermark
Fliki's Free plan gives 3 credits a month and asks for no credit card. Video exports are 720p with a Fliki watermark, and Fliki's pricing table lists commercial rights on paid plans only. Audio exports carry no watermark on any plan, the Free plan included.
Ideas, scripts, blog links and PPTs are all inputs on the Free card, marked Limited. Translation, YouTube publishing, voice cloning and Series start on paid plans. Each action spends credits: voiceover is 0.25 to 2 credits per minute by voice color, and exporting is 0.1 credits per minute. Is Fliki free? explains the plan in full.
HeyGen and Synthesia free: avatars with limits
HeyGen's Free plan allows up to 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, with 500+ stock video avatars and no credit card. Watermark removal and 1080p export are listed on Creator, not Free. Fliki vs HeyGen sets the plans against each other.
Synthesia's Basic plan is free, with no credit card, 500 credits a month and a free allowance of 10 minutes of video creation or dubbing. Videos carry a Synthesia watermark, and its avatar set is limited; Starter lists 125+.
Lumen5 and Canva free: short and designed videos
Lumen5's Free plan has 5 videos a month, each up to 2 minutes, and every video contains a Lumen5 branded outro. Basic, at $29 a month, billed monthly, drops the branding and allows 10-minute videos at 720p.
Canva Free is $0 and is a design editor first; its video editor page lists text-to-speech voiceover and AI video from a text prompt. Canva says a watermark appears on a Free account only when you add Pro or paid elements. Canva Pro is $18 a month, billed monthly, for one person. Pictory is not in the table because it offers a 14-day trial of 15 video minutes, not a free plan.
When a free plan stops being enough
Fliki's watermark removal, 1080p export and commercial rights start on Standard: $28 a month, billed monthly, or $21 a month, billed annually ($252 a year). HeyGen lists watermark removal and 1080p export on Creator, $29 a month, billed monthly.
Fliki's free plan asks for no card and renews 3 credits each month, usually on your sign-up date, so you can judge its voices and scenes before paying; its FAQ says it cannot refund a paid plan. Pick HeyGen's free plan for avatar videos and Lumen5's for short videos. For paid plans across six tools, see best AI text to video generator.
